Story

Oscar winning Documentary "Man on Wire"

Man on Wire is a 2008 documentary film directed by James Marsh. The film chronicles Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center and is based on Philippe Petit's book, To Reach the Clouds, which has recently been released in paperback with the new title Man on Wire. The film is crafted like a heist film, presenting rare footage of the preparations for the event and still photographs of the walk, alongside reenactments (with Paul McGill as the young Petit) and modern-day interviews with the participants.

It competed in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize: World Cinema Documentary and the World Cinema Audience Award: Documentary. In February 2009, the film won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film, the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Producers Note
The film's producer, Simon Chinn, first encountered Philippe Petit in April 1995 on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs when he decided to pursue him for the film rights to his book, To Reach the Clouds. After months of discussion, Petit agreed with the conditions that he would play an active, collaborative part in the making of the film.

In an interview conducted during Man on Wire's run at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, director James Marsh explained that he was drawn to the story in part because it immediately struck him as "a heist movie". Marsh also commented that as a New Yorker himself, he saw the film as something to give back to the city. He said he hopes to hear people say that they will now always think of Petit and his performance when recalling the World Trade Center's twin towers.

Responding to questioning as to why the towers' destruction 27 years later was not mentioned in the film, Marsh explained that Philippe Petit's act was "incredibly beautiful" and that it "would be unfair and wrong to infect his story with any mention, discussion or imagery of the Towers being destroyed."

Story
David Kepesh is a cultural critic and professor. Previously married, he has a son who has never forgiven him for leaving his mother. His relationships with women are usually casual and brief. Believing himself to be an independent and self-actualized individual, he encounters Consuela Castillo, a beautiful and confident student who attends one of his lectures. She captures his attention like no other woman, and they begin a serious relationship. David is also in a casual 20-year relationship with Carolyn, another former student. Carolyn finds out about his interest in Consuela, and leaves him.

Over dinner, Consuela invites David to her graduation party. She waits for an answer, but David only promises, "I'll have to check my schedule." Consuela is frustrated. In the end, he agrees to attend. On the day of the event, David phones Consuela and claims he has blown a tire and it will be unavoidably delayed. In reality, he is sitting in his car. Heartbroken and annoyed, Consuela hangs up.

Two years pass before Consuela and David come in contact again. On New Year's Eve, David arrives home to find a message from Consuela. She mentions that she needs to tell him something before he finds out from someone else. At his apartment, Consuela announces has found a lump in her breast and will need surgery. Grief-stricken, David cries and asks her why she didn't tell him sooner.

In the final scene, David visits Consuela at the hospital where she is recovering from her surgery. In a fantasy scene, the film flashes back to David and Consuela on the beach where Consuela told David she loves him.

Story
In the midst of central London, a successful Indian restaurant called 'Gaylord' is run by a Londoner of Indian origin called Pinu . A simple soul at heart, Pinu has many complexes - a special one being that he is a virgin and has experienced no intimacy with a woman. To top that, his biggest fear is to be laughed at by people... an ever-repeating phenomenon with him. Pinu is quite an introvert and has no real friends...the closest he has ever gotten to a friendship is with his foster brother Rajat, who is quite a contrast to his own personality. A casual air about him, he is the lead singer of a rock band. Rajat is very fond of Pinu, though is often a source of annoyance to him as he finds Pinu really funny.
One day, a young Indian fellow called Kamlesh comes to his restaurant and asks for a job as a stand-up comedian. Quite thrown off, Pinu initially refuses but finally lets him join as a cook, who also does a stand-up act in the evenings. On the same day, he hires a new cashier - Renu, a young art student from India, who has a passion for caricatures. Life changes dramatically for Pinu as Gaylord begins to transform... Renu works on the look of the place makes cheerful caricatures for customers while Kamles is a fabulous cook with a great talent for making people laugh in his acts and soon the restaurant is more happening and the business is much better. But the greatest difference they bring to his life is friendship. There is a visible difference in pinu's personality now as he lets himself hang out a bit with them.
One fine day, Pinu is thrown in to a daze as he walks away from the restaurant ...he has discovered a totally new fear - he might be Gay!!

Pinu seeks refuge in Rajat's advice which is quite simply - screw a woman!
On a mission now, Pinu goes on a rampage seeking available women for a sexual rendezvous. However, it leads to him suffering another string of tragicomic situations, ending up feeling humiliated...and laughed at!

Story

We are introduced to Sang-hyun, a priest whose free time is spent volunteering at the local hospital and providing ministry to the patients. He is well respected for his unwavering faith and the dedicated service he provides to all those around him, but he secretly suffers from overwhelming feelings of doubt and sadness about living in a world that seems to be drowning in suffering and death. After getting fed up with the endless cycle of human suffering that the world offers, Sang-hyun volunteers to participate in an experiment to find a vaccine for the deadly F.I.V. virus with the hope of saving even one life, and heads off to Africa.

Although the experiment fails disastrously and Sang-hyun is infected with a seemingly fatal disease, he makes a complete and rapid recovery. News of his marvelous recovery is quickly spread to the devout parishioners of Sang-hyun’s congregation, and they begin to believe that the man has a miraculous gift for healing. Soon, thousands more people flock to Sang-hyun’s services. Among the new churchgoers are Kang-woo, Sang-hyun’s childhood friend, and his family. Later on, Kang-woo invites his old friend to join the weekly mahjong night at his house, and there Sang-hyun finds himself precariously drawn to Kang-woo’s wife, Tae-ju. Suddenly Sang-hyun relapses into his illness; he coughs up blood and passes away.

The next day however, he opens his eyes in dire need of shelter from the sweltering sunlight; he has become a vampire. At first Sang-hyun feels a newfound vigor and is energized by his insistent bodily desires, but soon he is aghast to find himself sucking down blood from a comatose patient in the hospital. After attempting to kill himself, he finds that he is drawn back to the taste of human blood against his will. To make matters worse, the symptoms of F.I.V. have come roaring back. Desperately trying to avoid committing a murder, he resorts to stealing blood transfusion packs from the hospital.

Tae-ju, now living with her ill husband and her over-protective mother-in-law, leads a dreary and unhappy life. She finds herself drawn to Sang-hyun and his odd new physicality, and his inability to resist his desires. The two begin an affair, but when Tae-ju first discovers the truth about Sang-hyun’s new lifestyle, she retreats in fear. When Sang-hyun pleads with her to run away with him she turns him down, suggesting that they kill her husband instead.

Beginner's Slope
Richardson was vacationing in Canada Monday when injuries sustained from what at first appeared to be a minor fall on the beginner's slope at Quebec's Mont Tremblant soon turned serious. She was evacuated to a hospital in Montréal and joined there by her husband, who had been filming in Toronto. Richardson was then flown to New York, where members of her family, including her mother and sister, Nip/Tuck star Joely Richardson, gathered at her bedside.

Following the announcement Wednesday night of the "tragic death of their beloved Natasha," the family group, led by a despondent yet dignified Neeson, left the hospital for the couple's home on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Neeson made a point of acknowledging the crowd on the street outside the high-rise building before disappearing inside.

A member of Britain's greatest surviving theatrical dynasty, Natasha, whose grandfather was actor Sir Michael Redgrave, made her film debut in 1968 at the age of four, playing opposite her mother in The Charge of the Light Brigade. A family affair, the film was directed by her father, Tony Richardson, although by then her parent's marriage had already ended.

Yet it was on the stage that Richardson made her mark first. After training at London's Central School of Speech and Drama, she was cast in a production of The Seagull and won the London Theater Critics Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 1986. Brief Story

Story
The movie opens with Lorenzo (Tristán Ulloa) having casual sex in the ocean with a woman named Elena (Najwa Nimri). They part ways, expecting to never see each other again.

The next scene has Lucía (Paz Vega) at work as a waitress, taking time off to attend to Lorenzo after a disconcerting phone call with him. Upon arriving home, Lucía looks frantically for Lorenzo, finally receiving a phone call from the police who mention that Lorenzo has been involved in a car accident. Looking for perspective, Lucía decides to travel to the mysterious island where Elena and Lorenzo met.

The movie breaks to six years earlier. Lucía waits for Lorenzo at a restaurant. Upon catching his attention, she reveals curtly that since reading his book she has been shadowing him, hopelessly in love. An interested Lorenzo pursues the relationship. As the past plays out, we see Lorenzo repeatedly stalling for time on his new book to his editor while Lorenzo and Lucía's relationship deepens. Lorenzo learns that he has a daughter as a result of his encounter with Elena and begins to visit the child at her school while meeting her babysitter Belén (Elena Anaya). Lorenzo uses his new encounters as content for his book. Lucía reads it, thinking it to be fiction.

In the present, Lucía meets a scuba diver on the island, Carlos (Daniel Freire), and through him, Elena, who becomes her landlady. As the past is revealed the characters cope with its significance in the present and understand the entanglements of their interwoven relationships.

Basic Plot Line
The fourth installment of the Terminator series follows an adult John Connor (played by Christian Bale) as he attempts to organize a human resistance force which could prove to be humankind's last true hope for survival in the war against their intelligent robot overlords. Opening in the year 2018, Terminator: Salvation finds John Connor's certainty about the future shaken by the sudden appearance of a mysterious stranger named Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), whose last memory was sitting on death row and awaiting execution.

Unable to determine whether Marcus was sent from the future or rescued from the past, Connor begins to wonder whether there is still any hope left for the human race as the robots grow more powerful and aggressive than ever before. It appears that Skynet is preparing a devastating final attack designed to eliminate the human resistance forces once and for all, leaving Connor and Marcus with no choice but to strike back at the cybernetic heart of Skynet's operations.

Once there, the two battle-scarred soldiers discover a devastating secret regarding the potential annihilation of all mankind. Anton Yelchin fills Michael Biehn's shoes as a young Kyle Reese in what is planned to be a new Terminator trilogy from director McG (Charlie's Angels).

The film will be released in North America on May 22, 2009, and it could be rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America, unlike the previous R-rated films. The producers cited the desire to broaden the series to a new audience and the modern leniency of violence in PG-13 films, but they stated they would not force the rating. McG explained, "We have entertained the idea of a PG-13 rating largely because Batman Begins, in my opinion, was made compromise-free. So we'll see. The movie comes first and it will be protected at all times." He also added that studio executives Jeff Robinov and Jeff Blake gave their "blessing to make the picture and if it's a rated-R picture, it's a rated-R picture and that's that".

In addition to the novelization by Alan Dean Foster, there will also be a prequel novel entitled From the Ashes by Timothy Zahn and two spin-offs. The first spin-off will be published in September 2008. IDW Publishing will release a four-issue prequel comic, as well as an adaptation. Due in January 2009, it follows Connor rallying together the resistance in 2017, as well as examining normal people overcoming their intolerances to defeat Skynet. Playmates Toys, Sideshow Collectibles, and DC Unlimited will produce merchandise. A roller coaster will open at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
A video game of the same name will coincide with the release of the film. The game will be a third-person shooter.

Coraline is an animated stop-motion horror fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the Coraline. Directed by Henry Selick, it is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 6, 2009. It is rated PG for thematic elements, scary images, some language, and suggestive humor.
Story
Coraline is a young bored girl who discovers that bricked-up wall behind a door in her flat leads to another world, with another mother, and another father.

Combining the visionary imaginations of two premier fantasists, director Henry Selick (“The Nightmare Before Christmas”) and author Neil Gaiman (Sandman), this new movie is a wondrous and thrilling, fun and suspenseful adventure that honors and redefines two moviemaking traditions. It is a stop-motion animated feature – and, as the first one to be conceived and photographed in stereoscopic 3-D, unlike anything moviegoers have ever experienced before.

Coraline Jones (voiced by Dakota Fanning) is a girl of 11 who is feisty, curious, and adventurous beyond her years. She and her parents (Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman) have just relocated from Michigan to Oregon. Missing her friends and finding her parents to be distracted by their work, Coraline tries to find some excitement in her new environment. She is befriended – or, as she sees it, annoyed – by a local boy close to her age, Wybie Lovat (Robert Bailey Jr.); and visits her older neighbors, eccentric British actresses Miss Spink and Miss Forcible (Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French) as well as the arguably even more eccentric Russian Mr. Bobinsky (Ian McShane).

After these encounters, Coraline seriously doubts that her new home can provide anything intriguing to her….but it does; she uncovers a secret door in the house. Walking through the door and then venturing through an eerie passageway, she discovers an alternate version of her life and existence. On the surface, this parallel reality is similar to her real life – only much better. The adults, including the solicitous Other Mother (also voiced by Teri Hatcher) seem much more welcoming to her.

Coraline is more the center of attention there – even from the mysterious Cat (Keith David). She begins to think that this Other World might be where she belongs. But when her wondrously off-kilter, fantastical visit turns dangerous and Other Mother schemes to keep her there, Coraline musters all of her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home – and save her family.

Release
Focus Features will distribute the film. Coraline appeared at Comic-Con 2007. A trailer was shown with the films Beowulf, U2 3D, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, Twilight, The Nightmare Before Christmas, High School Musical 3, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Bedtime Stories, and Bolt. The film will be released on February 6, 2009.

Coraline Video game
On June 16, 2008, D3Publisher of America announced it will release a video game based on the film. The Coraline game is being developed by Papaya Studio for consoles and by Art Co. for Nintendo DS. The game will also be on the Wii and Playstation 2 consoles. It will be released January 27th, 2009, in close proximity to the film's theatrical release.

Story:
In the 1800s, against all odds, "The Pieman" (aka Alexander Pierce) escaped from the most feared penal settlement of the British Empire--Sarah Island--and disappeared into the impenetrable forests of Western Tasmania. Seven convicts escaped with him, yet Pearce was the only one that emerged--along with chunks of human flesh in his pockets. He was hanged for cannibalism in 1824, and the legend of Pearce was born.

Another long forgotten legend, the extinct Tasmanian tiger, also had a desperate need to survive; both could now have living descendents within the Tasmanian bush. Many sightings of the tiger have been reported. Many hikers have gone missing.

Hundreds in fact. Zoologist Nina is convinced there are still tigers remaining in the Tasmanian wilderness, and she has proof--a photograph of a paw print snapped by her sister just before she met with a fatal accident in the bush eight years before. Unable to attain funding for an expedition, Nina fears her wish to finish her sister's work (and perhaps lay to rest recurrent nightmares she has about her sister's death) will never happen.

Her partner, Matt, manages to persuade an old mate Jack to help finance the trip--at a price. Jack brings along a girlfriend, Rebecca, who uses the trip as an escape from her stifling real estate job. On their quest to find the extinct tiger, the group venture deep into isolated territory and into the domain of "Pieman" descendants. "Sarah" is a small township that passionately upholds its cannibalistic heritage in honor of the convict patriarch that gave birth to it. It needs to stay hidden to survive--but it also needs fresh "stock" to breed. The four hunters become the hunted.

Critical Appreciation
While the number of reviews for the film is slim, the majority of reviews of Dying Breed have been positive. Dreadcentral.com gave the film an impressive 4/5 stars,Urbancinefile.com.au also gave the film a positive review. On the negative end of reviews came from critics Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton. On their show At the Movies they rated the film 2/5 stars and 1 and a half /5 stars respectively. In his comments Stratton pointed out "It tries hard to be horrific and gruesome, even introducing a bit of fashionable torture near the end, but only the most credulous will find it genuinely scary."

Defiance: Synopsis

There they begin their desperate battle against the Nazis. At first it is all they can do to stay alive. But gradually, as whispers of their daring spreads, they begin to attract others--men and women, young and old--willing to risk everything for the sake of even a moment’s freedom.

As a brutal winter descends, they work to create a community, and to keep faith alive when all humanity appeared to be lost.

Valkyrie is a 2008 historical stoy based thriller film directed by Bryan Singer and starring Tom Cruise. The film is based on the July 20, 1944 plot of German army officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler and marks the re-teaming of Singer and producer/screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. Cruise will portray the leader of the plot, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg.

Cruise's casting caused controversy among German politicians and members of Stauffenberg's family due to the actor's practice of Scientology, though German newspapers and filmmakers gave support to the film to spread global awareness of von Stauffenberg's attempted plot. The filmmakers of Valkyrie initially had difficulty setting up filming locations in Germany, but they were later given leeway to film in locations pertaining to the film's story, such as Berlin's historic Bendlerblock.

The film changed release dates from as early as June 27, 2008 to as late as February 14, 2009. The changing calendar and poor response to United Artists's initial marketing campaign drew criticism about the studio's viability. After a positive test screening, Valkyrie's release date was ultimately set to December 25, 2008. United Artists renewed its marketing campaign to reduce its focus on the star Tom Cruise and to play up director Bryan Singer's previous credentials.

Valkyrie: Story
A proud military man, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg is a loyal officer who loves his country but has been forced to watch with horror as the rise of Hitler has led to the events of World War II. He has continued his military service, all the while hoping someone will find a way to stop Hitler before Europe and Germany are destroyed.

Realizing time is running out, Stauffenberg decides he must take action himself, and in 1942, on his own initiative, attempts to persuade senior commanders in the East to confront and overthrow Hitler. Then in 1943, while recovering from injuries suffered in combat, Stauffenberg joins forces with the German Resistance, a long-existing civilian anti-Hitler conspiracy comprised of men hidden inside the highest reaches of power.

Armed with a cunning strategy to use Hitler’s own emergency plan to stabilize the government in the event of his demise--Operation Valkyrie--and turn that plan on its head to remove those in power and cripple Hitler’s regime, these men plot to assassinate the dictator and overthrow his Nazi government. With everything in place, and with the future of the world, the fate of millions, and the lives of his wife and children hanging in the balance, Stauffenberg is thrust from being one of many who oppose Hitler to being the one who must kill Hitler himself.

Reception
Todd McCarthy reviewed the film for the entertainment trade paper Variety, and commented: "After a long takeoff, 'Valkyrie' finally takes flight as a thriller in its second half but never soars very high." McCarthy described Tom Cruise's performance as "a bit stiff but still adequate". Writing in The Hollywood Reporter, Kirk Honeycutt gave as his "Bottom Line" assessment: "Well-crafted historical thriller boasts fine performances but fails to probe the motives behind the plot to kill Hitler.

Slated for a December 19, 2008 release by Universal Studios, the film is rated G by the MPAA and was sent by Universal Pictures as a contender for the possibilty of being nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Synopsis:
In the faraway kingdom of Dor, four unlikely heroes emerge: Despereaux, a brave mouse banished to the dungeon for speaking with a human; Roscuro, a good-hearted rat who loves light and soup, but is exiled to darkness; Pea, a Princess in a gloomy castle who is prisoner to her father’s grief; and Mig, a servant girl who longs to be a Princess, but is forced to serve the jailer. Tiny and graced with oversized ears, Despereaux was born too big for his little world.

Refusing to live his life cowering, he befriends a Princess named Pea and learns to read (rather than eat) books--reveling in stories of knights, dragons and fair maidens. Banished from Mouseworld for being more man than mouse, Despereaux is rescued by another outcast, Roscuro, who also wants to hear the tales.

But when the Princess dismisses Roscuro’s friendship, he becomes the ultimate rat and plots revenge with fellow outsider Mig. After Pea is kidnapped, Despereaux discovers he is the only one who can rescue her--and that even the tiniest mouse can find the courage of a knight in shining armor.

The pre-Thanksgiving weekend saw the dawn of a hit literary-based franchise in Twilight, instead of the continuation of a literary-based blockbuster series, since Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince's departure from the date to next summer. Between the openings of Twilight and Bolt and significant holdovers Quantum of Solace and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, the overall box office was up over the comparable pre-Thanksgiving timeframes from 2007 and 2006. However, it was down from 2005 when Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opened.

Living up to the hype, Twilight wooed a dreamy $69.6 million on approximately 6,000 screens at 3,419 locations, drawing more attendees than Interview with a Vampire's debut to claim the biggest vampire weekend on record. The opening for the $37 million book adaptation ranks as the fifth highest grossing of November, behind the three Harry Potter releases of the month and The Incredibles.

Emblematic of its fervent constituency, Twilight set records for opening weekend front-loadedness (among non-holiday, nationwide releases). More than half of the movie's weekend gross was posted on Friday alone, $36 million, and the Friday-to-Saturday drop was 41 percent, steeper than Sex and the City's 34 percent Friday-to-Saturday drop. According to distributor Summit Entertainment's exit polling, 75 percent of Twilight's audience was female and 55 percent was under 25 years old. The overall grade from moviegoer pollster CinemaScore was an "A-," same as Bolt, further indicating that the movie's gross pattern was driven more by a fan rush than word-of-mouth.

"There was a number thrown around that if everyone who bought the book saw the movie we would open to $50 million," said Richard Fay, President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution for Summit Entertainment. "What is somewhat surprising is that 45 percent [of the audience] was over 25. The young girls who supported the book passed it on to their moms, and we're trying to get the word out to the young boys." Mr. Fay described Twilight's appeal as "a good, clean, Romeo and Juliet love story that young girls—and boys as well—can relate to." "It's not over the top," he added. "It's believable for what it is. It's all about to the uncertainty of maturing and the decisions you have to make."

In a single weekend, Twilight out-grossed Summit's five previous releases combined, and the distributor/production company quickly announced that that the sequel, New Moon, is officially in the works. Summit also generated exposure for two of its upcoming major releases. Attached to Twilight were trailers for the special effects-laden thrillers Push, featuring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning and opening Feb. 6, and Knowing, directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, due Mar. 20.

Ranking third behind a deflated Quantum of Solace, Walt Disney Pictures' Bolt dashed in with $26.2 million on around 6,200 screens at 3,651 sites, a solid start considering it's the type of picture that fares well over Thanksgiving and the fact that movies with similar subject matter, like Underdog and Firehouse Dog, have packed much less bite. Despite recalling Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Bolt had to overcome its story set-up of a lost television dog star. Any hint of Hollywood navel-gazing tends to put a crimp on grosses and it's been years since there was a popular dog drama on TV, hampering credibility. Still, Bolt's opening was slightly higher than Disney's last non-Pixar animated feature, Meet the Robinsons.

"We always looked at this as a ten-day weekend," said Chris LeRoy, Disney's Senior Vice President General Sales Manager. "On Monday, 15 percent of kids will be out of school, and 53 percent by Wednesday." Mr. LeRoy did not believe that the recent release of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa had much impact. "Twilight had more of an effect on us," he said. "It played to 10-14 year-olds as first choice, and I think Bolt will be their choice when they return to theaters over the holiday." Disney's research indicated that 52 percent of the audience was female, 60 percent was under 25, and 75 percent could be counted as parents and their children.

A major part of Bolt's marketing was 3-D. Launched with a record 982 3-D presentations, the picture made an estimated $10.3 million in the format, accounting for 39 percent of the $26.2 million weekend. The 3-D share was higher than Meet the Robinsons but lower than Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The novel was adapted for the screen by Melissa Rosenberg in the autumn of 2007, shortly before the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike. Story
Though the story is based mainly on a supernatural premise, it is more of a love story rather than a ghost/horror film. It is based on Pu Songling's classic novel, Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio. Zhou Xun starrs Xiao Wei, a fox spirit (huli jing) that feasts on human hearts in order to maintain her lovely, youthful appearance. When General Wang Sheng (Chen Kun) 'rescues' her from a band of bandits and brings her home, trouble brews as the demon falls in love with the general, who is married to Pei Rong (Zhao Wei).

Another (older) love triangle is present, between the general's brother Pang Yong (Donnie Yen), the general, and his wife. Pei Rong asks Pang Yong for help as she suspects Xiao Wei for what she really is. Pang Yong is aided by an inexperienced 'demon buster', Xia Bing (Betty Sun). Hints of a developing relationship between Xia Bing and Pang Yong are there, although this is never really explored. Another subplot revolves around Xiao Wei's lizard demon ally (Qi Yuwu) who has unreciprocated feelings for her and helps her get all the human hearts she needs.

Upcoming film "High School Musical 3: Senior Year"

High School Musical 3: Senior Year will be the third installment in Disney's High School Musical franchise. It is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on October 24. Kenny Ortega returns as director and choreographer, and all six primary actors return also.
Story
Now high school seniors, Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez are facing the prospect of being separated from each other as they go off in different directions when graduating from East High.

Joined by the rest of their Wildcat friends, including Sharpay Evans, Ryan Evans, Chad Danforth, and Taylor McKessie they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about the future.

Casting
An international casting call went out to find three new "Wildcats" sophomores, though it was later revealed they would be freshmen. This resulted in the casting of Matt Prokop, Justin Martin, and Jemma McKenzie-Brown.

Director Kenny Ortega commented that the new cast members seemed to bring an overall positive atmosphere to the cast, crew, and production as a whole. McKenzie-Brown's character was originally reported to be named "Tiara Goal", though EW.com later confirmed her name was "Tiara Gold".

McKenzie-Brown is not the only member of the new cast to have their characters name changed as Martin's character had originally reported to be named "Donny Fox", though it was later changed to "Donny Dion".

Development
In February 2007, Disney announced plans for a 2008 feature film sequel with a Halloween theme dubbed "Haunted High School Musical." In September 2007, Disney announced that they had scrapped plans for the Halloween theme and instead will focus on the senior year of key characters at East High. According to Yahoo news, the original writer from the first two films, Peter Barsocchini, is writing the script. The original producers and director/choreographer Kenny Ortega are also on board, which Ortega confirmed in an interview with Access Hollywood.

Zac Efron was quoted in People Magazine as saying, "I can tell you that if the script is good and if we all agree on a final script, then there's nothing that is going to hold us back from doing it. We have fun making these movies and that's very rare in this business." Rumors persisted of ongoing salary disputes between Disney and the lead performers, particularly Efron. According to Rachel Abramowitz, as reported online by the Chicago Tribune, "an eclectic cross-section of Hollywood insiders think Efron should get a cool $5 million for High School Musical 3, the theatrical version of the franchise, which Disney hoped to make before the Writers Guild strike and Screen Actors Guild strike shut down Hollywood for several months. Efron declined to comment for the article, and although contract negotiations still are ongoing, sources say Efron is being offered a salary closer to $3 million, not $5 million, for the follow-up, which focuses on senior year at East High. Whatever the price, he's still perceived as a steal."

Ortega stated that pre-production would most likely start in January 2008. Filming began May 3, 2008, at East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. He stated that the script had been submitted before the Writers strike started and that they were developing music. He added that filming will happen in Salt Lake City, Utah (as the first two films), hinted that the plot will be something of the nature of the Wildcat's final year in High School and stated "it looks like we've rounded up the cast."

Before filming began, the HSM3 board and cast held a press conference at East High School announcing the start of filming. The movie will be released in theaters (in the United States) on October 24 of that year, though several countries like Great Britain will get to see the movie at least one week earlier. The film has a $13.3 million dollar budget and a 40-day shooting period. This film is said to be the final installment with the current cast. On July 13, 2008, the official trailer premiered on Disney Channel and ABC Family and Disney.com. It also premiered on Disney Channel Latin America the same day, and on internationals Disney Channels on July 14, 2008.

Production announcements
According to documents filed with the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development board (GOED), Utah will again be the setting for HSM3. Shooting was scheduled to begin on April 21, 2008, and to be completed on June 13, 2008. Lisa Roskelly, spokeswoman for Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. said, "[The third] High School Musical will be officially shooting in Utah." According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, "...to help lure the production back to where it all began - at Salt Lake City's East High School - the GOED board Friday approved a maximum $2 million incentive for the production, the largest ever given to entice a filmmaker to Utah."

Filming was eventually pushed back and began on May 3, 2008. The 41 days scheduled for shooting is a longer period than for the first two films. Disney had declined comment on whether or not East High School would be used for shooting again, but the East High School board revealed they met with Disney representatives and filming would in fact take place at the school.

Stan Carrizosa, the winner of ABC's summer reality show, High School Musical: Get in the Picture will appear in a music video that is shown over the end credits of the theatrical release of the film.

Story

When Mo (Brendan Fraser) reads aloud from books, he has the ability to make the characters come out of the book, into real life. Mo read aloud from the book Inkheart, which caused several of the book's wicked characters, including Capricorn (Andy Serkis), to literally come to life. But while he read them out of the book, he accidentally read Meggie’s mother, Theresa (Sienna Guillory) into the story. Meggie is 12 years old, but knows nothing of her father's bizarre and powerful talent. But Meggie is annoyed that Mo still refuses to read to her. Capricorn, a man who burns for pleasure and being so evil that he would "feed a bird to a cat on purpose, just to watch it being torn apart", has searched for Meggie's father for years, seeking to twist Mo's powerful talent to his own dark means. Finally, Capricorn realizes that the best way to lure Mo to his remote mountain hideaway is to use his beloved daughter Meggie as bait. While Meggie discovers Capricorn's ruthless plan, she too, can pluck people from pages and bring them to life, but it takes a while for her to realize her power.

Production
The author of the book on which the film was based, Cornelia Funke was quoted as saying that "we had our second screening (summer 2007), which went well, and I really loved the movie, but they are still changing things, especially at the end."

As with the production of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the production progressed very slowly. The American release was originally slated for Christmas 2007, but then was changed to March 19, 2008. In addition, due to the writer's strike, the film was further pushed back and is now set to open January 9th, 2009.

At 18, Ian Lafferty is struggling through his last summer before college. He's taunted by his cocksure older brother Rex, shown up in the romance department by his 14-year-old younger brother and humiliated by his job at the donut shop in the mall.

But Ian's biggest problem is that he's about to start college as a virgin! He's determined to rectify that before he officially becomes a freshman and his devil-may-care pal Lance is on hand to help. He soon hooks up with Ms. Tasty, a flaming hot blonde who can't wait to get busy. But there's one tiny catch: Ian has to drive 500 miles from Chicago to Knoxville to consummate the deal. Egged on by Lance, Ian risks life and limb by appropriating "The Judge," Rex's prized vintage Pontiac GTO, for a cross-country "sex drive." With Lance and Felicia in tow, the planned eight-hour drive turns into a three-day marathon as the trio loses its way in the Heartland and ends up taking a scenic tour of Midwestern back roads.

Car trouble, a stint in the pokey, a detour to an Amish farm and an afternoon at a roadside carnival all complicate Ian's journey, but it's Lance's overactive libido that really threatens to derail his plans. Will Rex find him before he reaches Nirvana? Will a cuckolded husband exact revenge on Lance just as he seems to have found true love? Will Ms. Tasty live up to her Internet profile?
